My Present Artwork

The artwork that I am presently creating has been influenced by old rural farm houses, barns, and other such buildings that I was exposed to in my youth. My purpose for depicting images of such architectural structures is to make others aware of their existence and to show the innate beauty that can be found wiyhin these old dilapidated structures. My painting Cow Pasture #1 is of an old farm house located on Highway 166 east of Carrolton, Georgia.

The medium I have chosen to create these images is watercolor in a style similar to the work of Andrew Wyeth. I have gained much by studying his paintings and reading about the thoughts that went into each image. I have adopted many of his ideas within some of my work such as objects being metaphors for people or other things. Wyert's painting Alvaro and Christina, 1968 is such a painting where each half of the wall represents one of the two individuals.
